Recyclable and sustainable plastic packaging materials are a major trend in the development of the packaging industry

More and more countries are introducing single-use plastic packaging reduction laws

In 2021, Australia announced its National Plastics Plan, which aims to ban single-use plastics by 2025. In addition to Australia, a growing number of countries and cities around the world are taking action to ban single-use plastics. In the European Union, the 2019 Single-Use Plastics Directive aims to combat the 10 most common single-use plastic items on European beaches, which account for 70 percent of all marine litter in the EU. In the U.S., states such as California, Hawaii and New York have introduced legislation to ban single-use plastic products such as plastic bags, forks and food containers. In Asia, countries such as Indonesia and Thailand have led calls for measures to ban single-use plastics.

Influenced by the concept of sustainable development, single-material packaging is valued

Currently, multi-layer and composite plastic packaging is commonly used, but its recycling after use is very cumbersome (it requires peeling off the films of different materials and then disposing of them separately). Forced by ecological responsibility and local policy influences, major global brands are beginning to commit to using single-material

A growing number of countries and branded companies around the world are promoting the circular economy as an important factor influencing the adoption of recyclable single-material plastic packaging, an initiative aimed at improving the efficiency of plastics recycling and disposal. The Newcastle pneumonia epidemic is a serious constraint on global economic growth in 2020. However, research earlier this year showed that flexible packaging consumption is showing a reverse growth phenomenon in 2020, especially in Europe and North America.

Environment , Society and Governance, often referred to as ESG strategies, are listed as a key part of many companies’ development because of the growing eco-consciousness of consumers and investors. By improving the efficiency of their resources, companies can improve their scores and potentially gain more business value, including improved brand reputation, customer and employee loyalty, and access to capital.

The increasing need for environmental action, as well as the needs of enterprises to achieve economic profits and sustainable development goals win-win, it can be said with certainty that in the near future, the development of more green, recyclable and sustainable plastic packaging materials will be a major trend in the development of the packaging industry.
