Theย solutionย ofย PLASTICย BAN
On 27th of March, Parliament approved a new law banning single-use plastic items such as plates, cutlery, straws and cotton buds sticks.
The following products will be banned in the Europe by 2021:
- Single-use plastic plates
- Single-use plastic cutlery (forks, chopsticks, spoons andknives )
- Plastic straws
- Cotton bud sticks made of plastic
- Plastic balloon sticks
- Oxo-degradable plastic and food containers and expanded polystyrene cups
Europe now has a legislative model to defend and promote at international level, given the global nature of the issue of marine pollution involving plastics. This is essential for the earth, it requires that producer need to make new recycling target plan and more responsibility.
Therefore, some manufacturers have started to make biodegradable materials to replace the single-use plastic items, such as PLA and PBAT.
PLA is abbreviation of poly lactic acid, it is made from starch raw materials proposed by renewable plant resources (such as corn, cassava, etc.). The starch raw material is saccharified to obtain glucose, and then fermented from glucose and certain strains to produce high-purity lactic acid, then chemical synthesis method is used to synthesize poly lactic acid with a certain molecular weight. It has good biodegradability, and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions after use, eventually generating carbon dioxide and water, without polluting the environment, which is very beneficial for protecting the environment and is recognized as an environmentally friendly material.
PBAT is abbreviation of poly butyleneadipate-co-terephthalate, it is a thermoplastic biodegradable plastic, which is a copolymer of butylene adipate and butylene terephthalate. It has both the characteristics of PBA and PBT, and has good ductility and elongation at break, good heat resistance and impact performance. In addition, it also has excellent biodegradability, which is very active in the research of biodegradable plastics and one of the best biodegradable materials in the market.
